Its a 97 civic LX. I was driving down the road (45mph) and my speedo just jumps ways up in speed and the check motor light came on. So i take the car out of gear, (its a 5 speed) and just coast, the tac comes down to idle speed and the speedo comes down to 0mph too, yet i was still rolling at 45mph

So i pull over, turn the car off, and turn it back on. Then just sitting there with the car not in gear and hand brake up, i lightly press on the gas, motor goes to 2K or so, and the speedo jumps up again, to like 60-80mph, bounces around then once i get off the gas, comes back down to 0mph as the RPMs come back down to idle speed. Anyone have an idea why its doing this?
