Default Check engine light 2006 honda civic no code

I have a 2006 honda civic that has had several problems. Blew a head gasket in august and now when im driving slow (in traffic for example) it grinds in first gear. today the check engine light came on i went to go get the code checked and they said there is nothing wrong with it and it's not giving them any "error code". has this happened to anyone?

If the light is on, there is a code. Codes related to an automatic transmission might not appear on all scanners though. You may need to go to a dealer.

The code should still be stored in the computer, even if the light is off.

It was on for a reason. You should still get it checked out.

Problems can sort of resolve themselves (or drop below what the ECU can detect) and the light will go out.

Check the transmission fluid too. If it is low, make sure to use only the recommended type. And find out where it is leaking.

Running low or out of oil in the engine isn't a condition that is intended to turn the CEL on. Your engine will just destroy itself.
