Default check engine light

hey guys, newbie here but nonethe less I have a question

A little bit honda illiterate but here it goes.

Got a '93 civic dx hatch and through insurance got the engine replaced. Got the problem of the check engine light comes on after driving it for about 3-5 minutes and doesn't turn off. The guy that replaced the engine assured me that he fixed the problem by replacing the O2 sensor. So.....wtf? Is there a reset button for the engine light or........? any help, schematics, or anything would be a great help. I know my electronics fairly well if that means anything.

If you need any other specs, let me know

Thanks!

Just try disconnecting the battery for a hour, always works for me until a half an hour of driving and that dumb light comes back on[:@].

it might take a couple days, my engine light went on because i didn't put my gas cap on, and it says that 3 driving trips after repacing it, the light should go off..it took like 10 driving trips, i guess it just takes time for the computer to recongnze the problems fix..mabey

you can pull the ecu fuse to reset the cel, or disconnect the battery for about 1o seconds. if you put the key in the ignition and turn to on but don't start the engine you will get a series of short and long flasshes.. this series represents the error code.

Actually the best way to get rid of a code is to clear it with a scan tool. You could clear by taking the fuse out or disconnecting the battery but this also will erase any readiness checks which have been set. This is bad because some readiness checks take a while to occur. If you have to goto get your emissions check you will have to come back when all the readiness checks have been done.

Not several hundred, you can get a laptop scan tool for about 150 i think. Its not a bad deal, but also i think autozone will check codes for free. And my school auto shop has 3 scan tools and a lab scope. We haven't learned how to use the scope, but we are going to on monday i think. I can't wait till we learn how to use it cause ive been waitin all year for the demo.
