Default Catalytic Converter / O2 Sensor Question

Hey all, I had my stock catalytic converter and O2 sensor stolen this weekend. The thieves unbolted the front of the cat, but hacked the rear pipe in half (between the cat and resonator). So now I need a new cat, O2 Sensor and resonator pipe. Any suggestions on after market ones (read cheap). This is a 97 Civic EX 4-dr, commuter, bone stock, with 210,000 miles. Hoping I can use a generic cat and O2 sensor, then find the resonator pipe at the Junk Yard?? Any help would be appreciated.

wow that sux man....you can get a universal magnaflow cat converter for pretty cheap, but you would have to get it welded on I believe. Most bolt on high flows are around atleast $100. You can get a Bosch o2 sensor for around a hundred, if your looking for cheaper you can get one less expensive likefrom Replacement (thats the name of the comp) for only $28 dunno the quality of it though. Check out autopartswarehouse.com for these products at a good price. This link is for o2 sensors on your car --------> http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/pe...amp;partid=555

Thanks for the input. I started looking at the bolt on hi-flow cats and they say they will not pass emissions. Is this typical? I need something emissions legal for my yearly inspection.

Also, I looked at those O2 sensors, but they were one or two wire. Mine is 4. I will keep researching though. I have found universal ones that you have to splice into your existing connector. Wonder if they are any good?

really not pass emissions? Are you sure that thats not just for california? I'm pretty sure they make a magnaflow cat-converter that will pass inspection.

I heard that the universal o2 sensors aren't that good. Those o2 sensors should fit your model car on the site, not quite sure what you mean by 2 wire and 4. You can call or do a live chat on the autopartswarehouse site to get more information. goodluck.

checked with magnaflow, they said it should pass non-california emissions, so I am going to buy the direct fit one for $120.

Question for you, probably a stupid one, but the O2 sensors tend to ask for V-Tec or non V-Tec. I think my EX is SOHC V-tec, but not sure (D16Y8). Are all the D16Y8's V-Tec. Sorry, stupid newbie question.

B Pipe is available at the local junk yard for $35, so if its not rusted out, I am going to get that. So all in all, less than $200 or so.

Thanks man, I really appreciate your help. Found out that these theives are stealing the cat's and taking them to cat recyclers for the Platinum inside. Man I hate theives.
