starter may be going, if you hear a "click" noise when you try to start.

or it may be the battery, which could either be dying or have a loose or dirty connection.

starters going. get ready to shell out some cash.

you can try to rebuild it yourself, or buy a new one.

rebuilding it will take some ingenuity however, since honda doesn't usually sell rebuild kits.

Deffiantly sounds like starter. My nissan pickup did that before that starter went.

Before shelling out cash, check the contact on your battery and it's ground. If they are gumme up, clean them. Doesn't hurt and doesn't cost anything if it still does it afterwards. But if it helps, you didn't spend any unnecessary money. Chances are it's the starter, but start simple and free.

Here are some possible causes:

1) Battery is not fully charged.

2) Battery terminals connections are loose or corroded, so not making good electrical contact.

3) Starter is on the way out (see picture for replacement). You might be able to pick up a used starter for cheap from a salvage yard.
