Default car problems

its not a civic but my daily is a civic and i just needed some help with this car i picked up.
so the guy told me that it needs a new catylitic converter and that it needs an air filter,
master cylinder ( i think .. he said it was for the brakes) also he said the fuel filter needs to be replaced and thedistributor too. so as i drove the car back to my house i notice that it brakes like crap so i figure its the master cylinder than i try to speed up a bit and i had totally no acceleration at all i was going about 50 tops and hardly even that. i know its probably not enough information but can anybody help me out? the car is an ae86

Brakes:

First check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir. Fill if low. Check for leaks around master cylinder, calipers, and wheel cylinders. Replace any leaking components. If no leaks anywhere but brakes are still spongy, then air may be in the hydraulic system. Bleed the system starting with the wheel furthest from the master cylinder. If bleeding doesn't fix, then you may need to replace master cylinder.

Low power:

Start with a basic tune up - replace plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, and air filter. If problem persists, then you might have a clogged catalytic converter.
