Default Can't open the hood on my 93 ex

I have a 93 EXand I can't get the hood open. I think the cable is broken underneath the hood by the mechanism. I can't seem to find a way to get to the latch.Has this happened to anyone before? Any suggestions on ho I can get it open? pulling the lever doesn't open it, even tried vice grips. The cable moves, but isn't moving anything under the hood. I'm gonna have to get to the latch somehow, but can't figure out how. Any help is appreciated

look at the release handle and make sure the cable is actualy moving....... if it is try to get a friend to pull the release handle while you slightly bump the front hood above the latch, it could just be stuck and alittle vibration could free it up... if it does open up like that just spray the latch down dam good with some WD40 or something to lube up the gears good and then use a screw driver to latch the latch and release it afew times to work it in good.
most the time the latches just stick from geting dry.

but if that doesnt well this can be tuff! does your car have the AC still instaled? if not then jack the car up make sure its on good jack stands, take off the front lower splash shield and TRY to get to the latch....

its not going to be easy thats for sure!

if your car does have AC then you could try to pull the radiator hoses after draining the fluid and you could try to PUSH the radiator upwards to bend the top mount enough so the lower mounts will slide out.... and then try to get to the latch.

only other way i could see is to pull the lower and side bumper bolts and just MAYBE youll be able to move the release latch but most likely your bumper cover will break from forcing it up that hard. your best bet is going behind the radiator suport if your cable is really snaped. either AC or radiator, if you got AC that still blows cold then i wouldnt touch it.
you might even be able to pull the 3 bolts from the latch with some open end wrenches and afew busted knuckles later....

wish you luck....

Thanks for the help, guys. I got it today by flexing the bumper back enough to get a screwdriver on the mechanism. Diagram helped. thanks. Addicted, you knew exactly what I was getting into. Thought that was what I was going to have to do. Thanks again for the help

It'd be wiser to hate your appendix or even spleen.
