Default Can you repair axles??

OK, the drivers side axle i got with my swap has all the threads on the spindle just destroyed. well i have some good axles for civics lying around but they wont fit my engine (halfshaft is different). so i was wondering if its possible to take the spindle from the good one and put it on the bad one??? i really hope so cuze it turns out that because of the halfshaft being different on the b16b from most other usdm civics that it almost looks like im going to have to order one from japan or something. sounds really expensive to me

The wheel spindle and outer joint cup are one piece. If the other axle has a bad outer joint there's nothing you could do, since both spindle/cup units are bad.

You can switch the inner joints pretty simply though.

The outer joint isn't intended to be taken apart in the field. Obviously it must come apart somehow...

But if you have one with the right length axle you might be able to switch the inner joint to have the transmission shaft be the right one for your transmission.

We tried to do this once and it's not really serviceable. It is a press fitting, you need a slide hammer to take it apart, etc.

All US 94-01 Integra and 99-00 Si axles are interchangeable. Some of the later JDM Integra used larger 36mm axles, but if yours are 32mm then you can use any of the above.

where did you buy it? if it's from a parts store you can probably return the bad one and get a core deposit back
