Default A/C question for 98 ex coupe

Im trying to work on my ac and i noticed the wire that runs from the temp selector isnt connected to anything on the other end. when i slide the lever on the dash it just pulls the wire in and out. Can someone please tell me where this is supposed to connect?

The cable from the dash control goes to the air mix control arm, which is on the bottom of the heater box under the dash in the center of the car. Then another cable starts from the air mix control mechanism and goes under the hood to the heater valve.

Proper adjustment of the heater valve is essential. If the valve doesn't close all the way, the heater core will stay hot even with the dash control at full cold. This will reheat the air from the evaporator and cause poor A/C performance.

+1 on mk's advice. you need to make sure that when it is on cold, the heater valve is completely shut. Then you know that you have aligned it. It's not as bad as it sounds.
