Default A/C problem

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. My air works some of the time..when I first get in the car in the morning, it works fine..blows cold, no problems. The air will work as long as I don't turn the car or ac off. If I do either, it will not come back on. The light comes on but no air. Heat/air/defrost nothing works. The other day this happened and I drove a while without it and stopped at a gas station, raised the hood(not sure why) I really don't know what I'm doing but when I closed the hood..air came on and worked fine for the next 3 hours until I got home. Pulled into the driveway, turned air off and it didn't come back on. Next morning it worked fine until I turned the car off.

By the way..2003 civc lx

When the A/C won't work, does the condenser fan fail to run or does the compressor clutch fail to engage or both?

OK, I cranked the car and turned on the A/C and I got absolutely nothing, no change except the A/C light turned on. So i smacked the dash just above the vents and it kicked on. That trick has worked since the beginning of the summer but its starting to not work as much.

It blinked 12 times. Where exactly is the blower motor circuit?

Do you happen to have pages 20-21 of the same manual?

Interior fan (blower) not working and a code 12 from the control panel is almost always a bad power transistor. But you should confirm that there is no voltage reaching the blower motor first. Measure between the two leads with the plug still plugged in. If there is voltage at the motor but it doesn't run, it's a bad motor.
