Exclamation A/C problem with 2006 EX

All,

I have a 2006 EX that is having trouble cooling on hot days (90+ degrees). The air coming from the vents is cool but not cold. I checked the low side hoses and they were ice cold to the touch. I hooked a gauge onto the low side with the engine running and it was reading 55 psi.

When the engine is running, I can hear the compressor come on when I turn on the A/C. However, it blows cool (not cold) for about 30 seconds and then will blow ambient temperature air from the vents. I also have a 2006 LX which cools quite well - it blows very cold air under the same conditions.

Do you have any idea why I am getting ambient temperature air from the A/C? Given the cold on the low pressure side, I would expect to be getting colder air. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike

Works for a while then warms up suggests the heater is fighting the A/C as the engine warms up. You could try clamping off the heater hoses. Check the heater shutoff valve if it has one.

You need to measure both pressures simultaneously to know what's going on in the refrigeration system. Suction line getting cold is a good sign.
