So at this point, if you press the A/C button with the blower and engine running, the A/C button light illuminates, the condenser fan runs, and the compressor clutch engages, right? If so:

-Is the A/C belt tight?

-Is the A/C system stock? Is it an R12 or R134a system? If the latter, was it converted from R12?

-Prior to adding refrigerant, did you evacuate the system and replace the receiver/dryer? How much refrigerant did you add to the system?

-Do you have or can you get a manifold gauge set to measure refrigerant pressure on the low and high sides?

yes the ac belt is on there tight and the a/c system is stock r12. The system was evacuated but the dryer wasn't replaced. At firs the compressor was making some noise but then added some oil and noise was gone. I will try to put some gauges on it to see the readings of the high and low side

Yeah, at this point, the gauge readings are essential. Typically, anytime the closed A/C system is opened, you must replace the dryer/receiver. Was the system recharged with R12? How much?

At 80F outside temp with the A/C running and the engine idling in the shade, the low side should read ~36 PSI and the high side should read ~320 PSI.

I put some gauges on it and with the engine at idle the low side is about 100 and the high side is 110 but with the engine reving the low side goes to 60 and the high side is at 110.

Was the fan running and the clutch engaged when you made your readings? If so, my guess is that the compressor is shot.

yes the fan and clutch were engaged. I will try to replace my compressor sometime this weekend. Now someone was telling me that it could be my evap core or even my expansion valve. How can i tell if these are bad also?

Your pressures have two problems. The low side (suction) is too high and the high side (discharge) is too low. Here's what the manual says about troubleshooting these two problems:
