Tony,

You still did not post any single car make and model worldwide that uses CAI (or SRI for that matter, which is even worse) to achieve better gas mileage stock. And, if we talk about 03 Si, it's intake picks air from the front grill, utilizing both cold air and dynamic air pressure at higher speeds. The same thing, btw, as my wife's 05' Murano.

Drbyers,

I'm sorry, but I tend to think you don't have any real mileage improvement, even if you think you have.. And, btw, I really doubt you get any noticable power increase from SRI. Not sure why people feel that way, most probably it is a psycological effect of a cool sound you get.

And throttle responce - hmm, i don't think I have any problem with it on any of my cars. I'm pretty happy whith what I have stock. I would not mind having more power, but I really don't care about improving throttle responce. I do not do racing, so I'm not into squeezing this extra one hundredth of a second and paying a few hundred bucks for it.

Well Misha, you're obvoiusly just like 90% of other old dude I've met, and are fully set in your ways and opinions, no matter how wrong they are. Can't teach an old dog new tricks right?

I, in fact, have proven the improvement of gas milage on my car, run a search..

And until you actually feel the difference in throttle response, you will never know how big of an improvement it actually is. Maybe not as much on the DOHC, but I was really impressed with it's improvement over my stock y8.

And you still did not answer my question
You definitely can't convince old dog if you are ignoring his questions.
Tony, I've been doing engine combustion research for a living, I know what I'm talking about. Unfortunately I left the industry quite some time ago, and all my books and whatever materials I had are back in Moscow with my previous family (if they did'nt throw it away already), so I'm having really hard time trying to recall all the details under my opinions... I will eventually put together the post about why you cannot have any measurable gas mileage improvements out of those things, it just takes time to do it right...

Numbers don't lie, period. I ran a few tests completely stock, and a few after the addition of an SRI and cat-back. After SRI and Cat-back, mileage definitely improved, but like I said, it wasn't much.

What question are you looking for an answer too, the one in the original post?

I asked you this question first time a few months ago i believe

And numbers...well, they do lie. Meaning - if you did not make sure the numbers you are comparing are obtained and compared correctly, this could be very misleading... What are your numbers anyway? AND circumstances under which you obtained those numbers?

Everything was as precise as physically possible. Numbers were taken on the same road trip, same distance, same roads, blah blah blah. Exact numbers, I don't remember, if you're that interested like I said above you can take the time to run a search.

I don't fully understand your question. Are you wanting me to find an "off the line" vehicle with a CAI?

Well, I searched your posts for "economy" or "mileage" and browse them carefully. I was not able to find your numbers, other than the ones in the thread you were claiming 10% improvement

And question was from from the same thread, our first argument on the matter, bold mine:
ORIGINAL: Misha

Think about it: if it would be as easy as a couple of bolt-ons to boost the mileage more than 10% while getting decent power increase (what you just claimed), why would Honda ignore this in all of its stock models? And in VX model, too? Americans obviously did not care about mileage till recent times, but the rest of the world did care a lot, and continue to care. Can you give any make and model worldwide which uses things like CAI and catback to boost mileage?

Usually, when people claim they get mileage improvement out of such a mods, they either lack facilities/equipment/knowledge/experience to do proper testing; or they did other repairs/maintenance/adjustments at the time of mods installation. If in the former case there is no real measurable improvement, in the later case improvement really exists due to bringing car back to original manufacturer specs.

Yeah, contrary to popular belief, I don't live on the forum so you'll have to forgive me if I don't see/answer every post that is directed at me

Back on topic, I respond in that thread.
