Blower Motor Noise

Blower Motor Noise
Ok, so a few of you guys know that my brother recently purchased a 98 Civic LX sedan. Well, one of the problems with it is a noise coming from the blower motor. I searched around and couldn't find anything. We have also pulled almost everything out which is near where the sound is coming from. We have pinpointed the blower motor itself. Has anyone ever heard of this issue? Anyone know a remedy? Here's the blower motor in action. That "crunching" noise is what is bothering the hell out of him. It basically echos or something and becomes a hell of a lot louder when actually bolted in as it should be.
If anyone can shed any light on this, it would be much appreciated.

^^ That's what we were thinking (replace). He found a 96 Civic 4 door at a junk yard the other day that he will getting a replacement fender off of, he's gonna check and see if the blower motor is okay as well.
If anyone else has a solution, post it up! I appreciate the input RonJ, I was actually hoping you would comment since your good at diagnosing these types of things. hehe

I had the same problem in my car. Sounded like an outboard motor when I turned it on. I just got a new blower motor.
While a bit more expensive, it was a lot easier then trying to fix it and I now don't have to worry about it breaking again.

Just to give everyone an update about the problem. My bro went to the junkyard where he found a 96 Civic he was going to pull the fender off of. He ended up not buying the fender due to some light damage that the guy "forgot" to mention over the phone. He grabbed the blower motor out of the car and gave the owner $10 for it. Everything is 100% now. No noise whatsoever.
