I have a 95 civic with the b18b1 thats having some issues that have me stumped. First off is the power issue, it seems like after I dog it on the interstate and come to a slower street speed it seems to struggle (jerking, pulling, bogging) like its missing when I'm shifting up again (but no backfiring). If I shut it all the way off and restart it clears up completely.

Also my heater doesn't work at idle, when it has rpms going it blows hot but it drops right off when I press in the clutch. I tried blowing out the heater core and replaced the thermostat and neither helped. Guess water pump is next but gonna look for any other solutions first.

Heater not working at idle is because there is a bubble of air in the top of the engine. Check that the radiator is staying completely full. Get it completely full then start the engine (cold) with the radiator cap off and rev it up. If air bubbles out there could be a leak in the head gasket.

 

It may be that it's not full to the brim but I have bled the system, let it run for about 15 mins with the cap off. Ill give it a shot, thanks.

 

Just an update, I have noticed the heater is only blowing hot at 3000+ rpms.

still having the problem with chugging and if I gun it it clears up, but only at high rpms.

Any ideas would be much appreciated
