Another guy with idling issues
Ok I know there are a ton of posts about idling issues, but I read through quite a few and no ones description of their problem seemed to be close enough to mine so here I am...
I have a '92 DX that I don't really know the complete history of, but I got it with 70k miles for less than 2 grand before fees, tax, etc., so I threw caution to the wind and bought it (finances being different at the time, I thought "Hey just fix any issues). A year later now and it has 86k on it, a new timing belt, pwr steering belt, alternator belt, spark plugs (wires, cap n rotor were new when I got it). It needs a clutch which despite its obvious signs of needing service and/or replacement hasn't faded in ability, hence why I haven't shoveled out the cash to replace it. There were some niggling power issues when I got it, but I got them taken care of shortly after that, at least I think, I haven't had similar issues since.
The car will cycle in and out of a rough idle at rest and now the damndest thing has cropped up over the last few months. Seemingly out of nowhere the car will stall as I'm coasting either in gear or in neutral (but I've taken my foot off the gas), down the road. It will also die when I come to a stop. Now I thought the same thing everyone else has talked about, hoses, or a valve somewhere is bad. I replaced the PCV valve because it was, however I just noticed this past week that the stalling became more frequent as I burned off gas. Once I get below a half tank it is common, but not annoying, and if I get to a 1/4 or less (which I try not to do but paycheck to paycheck sometimes you have to stretch a tank a cpl days.) it stalls nearly every time I roll to a stop.
Now I'm thinkin' it might be the fuel pump, however I was under the impression that the fuel pump in this car basically just sucks and doesn't adjust its sucking to accomodate how hard or soft you're working the car. Also, I don't have any lurching problems at highway speed when I press down on the gas or anything. So I'm stumped...
I will probably end up having it looked at, but until I have the $$$ to take it in, I thought I'd see if anyone had ideas.
Thanks.

RE: Another guy with idling issues
I am running into a very similar issue, I changed the (IAT) which is the Intake Air Tempurature sensor and did not solve te problem.
The trouble code was a PO113 and OO505 which the IAC sensor Intake air control valve. That could solve the problem. I cant find the IAC Sensor for my 1998 civic. If I can find it or anyone can advise where it may be that would be very helpful and could solve our problems.
