another b18c5 question
i took my head and engine block to a machine shop yesterday. they said, in order to repair the block they may need to shave the block 10 to 20 thousands. i know the stock head gasket is 30 thousands. I also know that you can buy an after market that is thinner (not sure how thick it is). Am I gunna have to buy a head gasket that is 10 to 20 thousands over factory or no?

RE: another b18c5 question
no, it should be ok, but your compression will be really high, so never ever ever use anything less than premium gas and dont plan on adding that turbo, unless you get a thick headgasket like the one from Greddy (i think). but those dont give as much detonation resistence as the lower CR might lead you to think. it hurts the quench design a little, and so an 8:1 cr with a thick gasket will yeild a detonation resistence of about an 8.8:1 or 9:1 CR. and even NA, you might need to set the ignition timing at about 14 BTDC.
