annoying buzz/rattle at 2500 rpm
I have checked the website and found a few threads with similar problems but they don't appear to have been solved. I have a 2002 Cicic LX with about 120k miles. The following problem has been occuring for a while and I can't take it much longer.
After the car warms up (it won't do it cold), there is an annoying buzz/rattle that occurs right around 2500 rpm'swhile increasing the rpm's or while decreasing. I have taken off the rusted out cat. converter shield. I have listened for the noise while under the car and it sounds like it is from the exhaust pipe right where it changes from verticle to horizontal after the cat. converter. IfI put a bar between the engine and body and put a slight pressure it the noise goes away.
Any thought?

mine makes that same noise after i installed my headers i cant figure out if its a crapy muffler or a lead in the gasket like you where talking about and mine starts at 3000rpm and then levels out to normal muffler noise

We just fixed this on my daughter's 2000 Civic. My brother took off he connection in front of the resonator and found a pipe inside the exhaust pipe. We drilled a hole through the outside pipe and through the inside pipe and installed a stainless screw....noise gone!! Then reasembled the exhaust.

Deano34,
I saw a similar post that described a fix like yours, but it was on a different model honda. I wasn't sure if the civics had the pipe with in a pipe system. The outside diameter seemed awfully small to have another one inside it. I think I will give it a try.
Thank you.
