Is this alternator or something else?
Ok so I have a 1995 honda accord EX-R that was sitting on my driveway and it wouldnt start because the starter was gone and the alternator needed to be changed to. So I changed both of them but now I have a new problem. The battery in my was dead so I decided to get a boost from a friend and the car turned on quite fine but as soon as I go to take the cables off it starts dieing. Then I tried putting his battery in my car then I turned the car on and it worked but then my friend went to the battery with this energy tester thing he has and it said the power from the battery was going down pretty quickly so I turned the car off quickly. When I turn the car on after I jump it and take the cables off, I can keep reving it as much as I want and it wont die, but as soon as I stop reving, it starts to die.
Anyone know what could be the problem? My initial guess is that the new alternator maybe isnt working properly?

Check the connections and grounds, also the fuses in the underhood fuse box.
Is the "battery" light on the dash on? Does your battery work in his car? (if it's run down you may need to use yet another car to jump it once).

Buy a cheap volt meter tester, where the 10mm nut on the alternator for the connector with the rubber cap is where you would attached the positive (red) wire to and tab the black wire to any ground with your volt meter.
Start the car, and if the meter saying it getting 14.4 (i think somewhere around there), then your alternator is good, it shouldn't drop below 12v, if it does drop, go exchange your alternator.

Ok thnx for the help guys. Ill try everything out tomorrow. Also, this might help solve the problem. Before this problem started, i went to take out my car deck and the wires were all open and then there was like a spark and I was like wth? so I just completely unplugged my deck and then thats when the whole dieing situation happened.

sounds to me like your alternator is not turning on if you just replaced the alternator....
did you have your old alternator tested? or did you just take it in for a new one? it could have been good still!
always have your parts tested if you can before you replace them!
if you dont have about 14 volts on the alternators charging wire then something is not turning on the alternator.
if your radio is wired up all ghetto you need to fix that situation first! at the least you need to use electrical tape on EVERY WIRE that is hacked up! and not just a once around. 2-3times around the wire at the least! then check both of your fuse boxes for any blown fuses. most likely you definatly blew the under hood fuse for backup memory. and maybe the power wire for the radio on the under dash fuse box. either way check all the fuses AFTER YOU TAPE UP ALL THE WIRES AT LEAST! then replace the blown fuses.

it could have simply blown a fuse... or it could have sparked and fried something.... hard to just guess! but the hacked up radio harness is not good at all!
but if you have a aftermarket harness that plugs into your factory wireharness then thats not horible but you should still remove the harness and tape up each wire seperatly to prevent any future shorts!

If it were a Civic I'd say that the radio wiring won't affect the alternator, but you have an Accord which may be different. In any case disconnect the battery, tape up all the radio wires so they can't short to each other or to ground, and check all the small fuses.
If you connect the battery and turn the key on but don't start, you should have battery voltage on the "I" wire at the alternator. Also the battery light on the dash should come on.
Also put your battery on a battery charger, or if you don't have one install it in another car and drive that car to charge it up. Letting a battery sit around run down is very hard on it.
