Default Adding an A/C unit to a 95 hatch..

Im about to buy a 95 hatchback that has no a/c in it. Does anyone know about how much it will cost to put one in? Summer are too hot in KY to not have one. I cant seem to find much about this anywhere.

ya you can add it..... you just have to get all the parts, compressor motor brackets, hard lines belt, wires, inside blower box, condensor, ac controls blablabla..... basicaly find a civic thats been rear ended at a junk yard and gut it out......

also while your thier before ya start triping it i would sugest taking pictures of how everything is ran/routed that will make it alot easier when hooking it up on your ride!

Here's a link to get the manual for your civic. It will be helpful too. Click the downloads button

Last I looked, you could still buy the "A/C kit" new from dealers. It was like $500 from Majestic Honda. This is the complete set of parts that the dealer would bolt on to add A/C to a car that didn't have it.

Otherwise try to get a parts car parked right next to yours it will make it a lot easer to keep track of all the brackets and small parts as you move the parts over. Recover the refrigerant from the parts car before disconnecting anything.

Also if you use used parts try to get the oil out of most of them and replace it with new. Do not reuse the receiver-drier, buy a new one (about $30.00). Use a good vacuum pump to remove all the air from the system before charging it.
