AC stays on.... help!
Hi,
A few weeks ago it happened once where my AC light wouldn't go off and it was clear that the AC was still on every time I turned the fan on. My gf pushed the button a little while later and it turned off. I thought it was just my own confusion, but for a few days now it hasn't turned off. No matter how hard or light I press the button, both the light and the AC stay on (unless the fan is off, beacuse then both the AC and light go off). Is getting to this switch hard? Expensive?

well the AC is supposed to stay on when the defroster is on, maybe the switch/sensor/connection is bad/loose... you can pull out your entire center console and then take those pieces out and see if anything is visibly loose or broken.
or find the wiring diagram for the whole system, if you can get your hands on a factory service manual.

What model year? I don't know about the modern ones, but the old pre 1996 ones definitely do not link the A/C to the defroster like American cars do.
The button itself is almost certainly the culprit here, it could be a seperate unit or you may have to change out the whole heater control panel. Either way not too hard to do, remove the trim piece and pull it out of the dash similar to changing a radio out. As far as cost, this is not a part that breaks often so used ones should be easy to find.
