Default AC compressor Blowing Fuses

I have a 1990 lx Sedan,
The AC compressor is blowing fuses,
I have disconnected the condensor fan, and the fuse blows
I have checked the R134A level, just right,
I have checked the wiring to the compressor, A-OK,

I'm out of ideas,

Sometimes it will run for a few minutes, sometimes only a few seconds before the fuse goes..
I'm contemplating jumpiong the fuse slot with a paper clip and taking my chances..
It's BLAZIN' hot here!

Thanks,
Chris

been there , done that - did not happen to my car though.
there is probably more on the circuit to that fuse than just the AC.

check your fuse diagram to see - the problem (probably) is not the circuit of the AC, but something else that is on that fuse. at least my guess for right now.

So you're thinking that there is something else on that circuit that is causing a problem, not big enough to blow the fuse, but when I kick in the ac it overloads it?

just want to verify your thosht process on this.

Thanks,
Chris

i was not thinking about an overload. No.

"Sometimes it will run for a few minutes, sometimes only a few seconds before the fuse goes.. "

what is "it" - is that the ac compressor ??

Try digging around for an intermitant short, maybe a bare wire somewhere on the way to the compressor bumps a ground once in a while

Yes, the "It" is the compressor. air works great until the fuse blows I can put another fuse in While the car is running and the AC is on, and the air continues to work... all this while standing still, not many bumps sitting in the garage.

but I will retrace the wirig when I get home.

i would not recommend jumping across the fuse.
May end up with an electrical fire !

that eliminates some of what i was thinking.
i worked on one that was always blowing the horn fuse. it was on a mustang.

Hey,

Did you find the problem? I have a 1996 EX that is blowing the fuse for the AC fan.

it may be the case where Chris (chrisktana) will not come back and see your post.
if you click on his name - i think it is provided whereby you can send a private email to him (just not for sure about it, though - i am kind of computer dumb !)
