the passenger side door lock doesnt lock or unlock using the remote or the in-car lock. it moves manually so it doesnt need to be lubricated but nothing electronic moves, no noise, nothing. driver side doesnt work with the remote but there are noises. does anybody know whats wrong? and if you have a picture or a link to the layout of the door, that would be really helpful.

it gets kind of annoying having to unlock the passenger door manually everyday since i drive people home from school

 

get the 96-00 civic service manual from the link in my signature. everything you need is in there. i have not had this problem but others who did have mentioned a solenoid that usually goes bad after a while. you might need to replace that since you said mechanically there is no issue with manual lock and unlock.

 

how much would one of those cost? and how easy would it be to install? i plan on doing it myself with some help

 

I don't know. you'd have to look it up online to see the cost. there are probably many aftermarket brands that are more affordable than oem.
