Default '98 Park Brake Light

Hi,

1998 CX

Yesterday the park brake light wouldn't turn off even though the brake handle was released and all the way down. I don't feel any resistance from the rear brakes when driving forward or reverse. The light will turn off when coming to a stop or when the car faces down hill. It comes back on when accelerating or facing up hill.

Current weather is snowy and about -20. I have a bunch of frost inside the car due to snow melting off my boots and freezing when the car is shut off.

Any thoughts?

The cluster brake light serves two purposes:
1) Indicates parking brake is engaged.
2) Indicates low brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir under the hood.

Low fluid in the reservoir may indicate a fluid leak or, more likely, that the brake pads are worn down and need to be replaced.

Hi,

Thanks Ron. I'll check the fluid level and see what I see.
