Default 98 civic, starts, but won't move!

ok, it's a 98 civic EX. Starts just fine. Won't move forward or backward!

Emergency break off. Car in 1st or Reverse, won't move.

Put the car in Neutral and emergency break off. Can't push it!

Put it in reverse and hit the gas. The back-end rises but won't move.

What's the problem?

Do the wheels try to spin? If not, then possibly your clutch has gone to hell. Otherwise, maybe your emergency brake got locked shut somehow even thought you turned it off.

Thank you. I gave it some more gas and the rear wheel was sliding (not turning) in the garage. It moved.
Then there was a "click" noise and I guess the emergency break released.

Thanks!

Does that ever lockup when driving on the highway? disaster.

The car was sitting for a week with the emergency break on.

Seems to be fine. There is a slight grinding noise from the emergency break coming
from the rear. Seems to have stopped that after some driving. Guess it needs some adjustment....

yeah you might wanna have that checked out. That would not be good if you were goin down the highway at 70 mph and your e-brake decided to lock up.
