Right. You would have to power it up and use an oscilloscope to see if the pulses are correct. A much easier way to troubleshoot is to go thru the 3 tests in the book to be sure the rest of the car is OK. If so then the controller must be bad.

Well, I was able to acheive my goal. I used the info in test 3 after I determined that the switch was bad.Rather than pay the $95 dollars for the new switch at the dealer, I ran a jumper wire from red to black and have full bright lights (which really aren't that bright). I know this isn't the best wayBUTthis car sits in a high school parking lot and see's more abuse than any car should just from passers by. I want to put make it anice car but that would be futile at this point. Cheap and keep it running. Its days are numbered....

If the instrument lights are not as bright as they once were, then perhaps the gage of the jumper wire is too small or the jumper wire is not making optimal electrical contact with each terminal.
