Default 98 Civic dx manual transmission bearing change

I have a 98 Civic Dx 5 speed manual transmission and when i let the clutch out it makes a bad bearing noise. thought it was throw out bearing, changed clutch and bearing, put it back together and still same noise took it back apart and found that when you turn the input shaft, its making the noise so a bearing in there is bad. Im not sure which one yet as i didnt take the cover off. Anyone have any experience with these transmissions and is it very difficult to change these bearings? If so where can i get them? Any help would greatly be appriciated

It's usually the one on the outside end (away from the engine) of the input shaft. Very easy to change. Remove the transmission from the car. Take out the bolts holding the case halves together. Break the sealant. There is no gasket, only sealant. The case will only come apart about 1/4 inch at this point though. You need to unscrew the plug in the outside end and hold open the snap ring inside to release the output shaft bearing so the case can come apart. Once you are inside, the bearing just lifts off the end of the input shaft. Keep the inside of the transmission perfectly clean because there is no oil filter. Reassemble using sealant on the case halves.

thanks for the reply. I got the bearing out this morning, took a minute to figure out the snap ring was holding it together but yeah exactly as you said, the bearing poped right off. Very happy this is such a easy fix!! Made my made

The bearing number on the bearing is showing no results. I called Napa and gave them the number and nothing, went on NTN's site and doesn't show up. NTN SX04A34V1
