Default 97 si

hey guys just wondering if the carpet, windshield and dash parts are the same between a 1997 Civic SI (Canadian, Coupe, Standard) and a 1996 Civic DX (American, Coupe, Standard). looking to get parts for my 97 SI, but can't find any 97s around. it needs carpet, a windshield, and parts of the dash. the body on my 97 is real bad too so we might end up buying the 96 and using it.

just wondering if using an american car is illegal in canada and if it is will it cost much to switch over the tach and such?

thanks!

it's the same, but keep in mind they have different engines and the canadian Si (US equivalent is the Civic EX) has power options whereas the DX does not.

For example, your car has switches on the dash such as cruise control, whereas the DX does not. The DX does have slots for the cruise control switch though... you would just have to reuse your switch from the Si dashboard.

The DX does not have a tachometer.

You don't need to find a 97 Si by the way, it can be any 96-00 Civic... well except I don't think you can use a sedan's windshield or carpet.

are you serious? so all windshields from all 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000 models excluding the sedan, including the hatchback will fit my civic?

what about carpet, will hatchback carpet fit my SI?

this car is a standard DX and it doesn't have a tach? are you sure?

I am pretty sure that the hatchback windshield is the same as the coupe.

All 96-00 Coupes are the same as far as fitment goes with most parts, except with the front bumper/headlights/hood/fenders (96-98 and 99-00 are two different front ends). I can't really think of anything else off the top of my head that doesn't fit.

I think hatchback carpet is the same but I will check.

DX does not have a tach, i'm sure. It's pretty surprising though, isn't it? It's kind of a mystery to everyone why Honda didn't put a tach in all of their manual transmission cars.

so the next question is how do you tell when to shift with the DX?

^Well if you know how to drive a manual then you know that you can tell by feel.

Looked it up and all 96-00 Coupes and Hatchbacks have the same fitment windshield. Part number is 73111-S00-A10.

Looked up the carpet but they have different part numbers, although they look the same.

Yes, I am sure...

I am unaware of the features on the Canadian DX. I would guess that it doesn't have a tach either, but I can't guarantee that.

what does it take to put a tach on one of these things, much to it?
