After I installed a throttle body spacer on my EX I started it up and it reved up to redline, I then realized that I had forgotten to plug in the MAP and IACV. So after i did that I now have a crazy idle it goes from 1000 rpm to 1700 rpm every second, back and forth. It does it hot or cold it doesn't matter. Here are the things I have done....

-pulled hazard fuse to clear faults
-burped the coolant system , so coolant level is fine
-installed new distributor cap and rotor
-swapped out fast idle valve from a 93'
-took apart IACV completely and cleaned it
-took apart fast idle valve and cleaned it
-swapped throttle body out
-cleaned throttle body
-bought a used IACV off Ebay but havent gotten it yet

Prior to me installing the spacer there were NO PROBLEMS with my car... so im really kicking my self in the **** over this. I have had a Honda Tech come to my house and look at it and he assured me it is either the fast idle valve or the IACV. Any thoughts guys.....

It's possible to swap some of the sensor connectors, so make sure such a mistake was not made.

You also might have an intake air leak from the new gasket. Are you able to kill the idling engine by covering the top of the throttle body with your hand?

If you use your finger to cover the port inside the throttle body leading to either the IACV or FITV, does the idle surging stop?

 

You try taking the spacer back off?

 

I have taken the spacer off. And Im using one of the gaskets that came with the spacer. When I cover the bottom hole in the throttle boody the engine idles like it is suppose to, when i cover the top the surging is slower and lower rpms but does not stall...

The bottom port goes to the fast idle valve (FITV), right? If so, there's the problem. Clean the FITV (click link in my signature).

 

I fixed the idle problem. It was the after market throttle body gasket! It didnt have a cut out for one of the air grooves. Idle problem is fixed but now its running really sluggish when i accelerate, wide open and its barely accelerating.....thoughts??????????
