Default 95 civic air conditioning

Does anyone know how hard it is to change the evaporator. I've got what I believe is an ac leak. I put the leak detector in the system and the dye is coming out the condensation drain underneath. I think that is coming off the evaporator. If anyone has any expertise I'd appreciate your knowledge.
Thanks.

It's very simple. Recover the refrigerant. Remove the battery. Disconnect the refrigerant lines at the firewall behind the battery and plug them to keep moisture and dirt out. Remove the glove compartment (unscrew the hinges at the bottom). Remove the reinforcer plate behind the glove compartment. Take off the wires, straps and bolts and drain tube and remove the evaporator box from the car. Take the clips off the box and open it top to bottom. Replace evaporator or other leaky part you find in there.

sounds so easy in writing but for a novice like me, that sounds awfully intimidating to say the least. i'm sure one day I'll have to do something like this as well.

On most American cars it is necessary to take the whole dash apart to replace a leaky evaporator. It can be an all day job. A 1990's Civic is very simple by comparison.

yea on civic's it's easy because the cars are designed for a/c to be installed quickly by the dealer, since it was optional on lower end models of the civic
