Default 94 honda civic dx power loss, hesitation problem

my 94 civic has been acting strange for a while, and not many people were able to tell me what the problem was.
sometimes i will feel power loss, and its not really accelerating normally. while the problem occurs, the car also has small unusual shaking. the problem usually goes away after a minute or so. does anyone else have the same issue? thanks.

That sounds like simple misfiring due to weak sparks. Replace the "tune up" parts: spark plugs, spark wires, distributor cap and rotor.

It's usually the wires that do this, unfortunately they are the most expensive of the parts mentioned, but avoid cheap sets. It's about impossible to tell if they are OK by looking. Sometimes if you open the hood in the dark with the engine idling you can see blue flashes from bad wires.

You also absolutely have to check the cap and rotor. Post pictures of the inside of the cap and the contact point of the rotor if you don't know what to look for.

the exact same thing happens to me. (sorry i dont wanna make a new thread)

OP does it usually happen at a certain speed? like to me it happens around 30-35 MPH.
and it shakes while its accelerating, and when i get past that range.. the shaking stops.
but it only happens sometimes.

Had this exact problem on my 94 DX. Replacing the fuel filter and oxygen sensor helped quite a bit, and replacing the spark wires cured it completely. Hope that helps.
(fun fact, my spark wires had 100,000 miles and 7 years on them)

fuel filter was replaced recently also. I will have my spark wire checked out.
also, when im on the freeway sometimes, it will feel like the car is "jerking", or being pulled, not very smooth, but it also goes away after a while.
