94 Civic VSS Plug Toasted
No dash lights on the instrument cluster (warning lights ok), no speedometer/odometer. Tried replacing the cluster from salvaged vehicle but no go. Checked the Vehicle Speed Sensor (I know, should have beenchecked first)and the whole connector was fried and crumbled in my hand.
The Backup fuse under the hood is blown and when replaced all my parking lights come on (key and light switch off). Anyone know if the dash lights/speedo/VSS share a circuit to the Backup fuse? Could the VSS itself short and fry the connector or do I have a short in the wiring somewhere which is somehow powering my parking lights? Multiple unrelated problems/shorts? Don't want to replace the VSS and connector if it's just going to fry again. Not sure that I should proceed at all without figuring out the parking light complication.
Any input appreciated.
Thx,
Chris

RE: 94 Civic VSS Plug Toasted
Tried to post a reply to original thread multiple times and kept getting sent to oblivion. Just wanted to say thanks. The car is running now. Sometime between the ECM replacement and the final outcome I managed to blow the ACG fuse. Must have been during ignition switch installation and the rewiring of that harness. The switch apparently fixed it but I didn't know it until I went through diagnostics again and found the fuse. I know it wasn't blown before because I checked them all visually and with a meter.Still have this issue though.
