Unhappy 93' transmission prob.

so i bought this 93 dx 5 speed with a burnt out clutch. So i bought a new clutch and put it in. Then i noticed it was vibrating so i thought it needed new transmission fluid. When i drained it out only a half a quart came out, so i put in 2 1/2 quarts of auto trans. fluid and in about a day and a half it all leaked out. Someone told me the seals are burnt on the trans. and someone else said i didn't put it back together right. Anyone know?

Where is it leaking out?

If you don't push the axles all the way back into the transmission there will be a major fluid leak there as well as eventually the axles will work their way out until they disengage and the car won't go. If the axles are all the way in but it still leaks there, the axle seals can be replaced with the transmission on the car.

Other seals are at the input shaft (fluid will drip out of the bottom of the bell housing) and the shift control shaft. The transmission must be removed and disassembled to replace those seals.

That would be the input shaft seal then. It comes out around the shaft that goes into the transmission and drips down to where you can see it there. Could also be a crack in the case or a loose bolt that holds the transmission together. Anyway the transmission has to come back out of the car.

Note that oil from the engine will also come out the same place if the rear seal is bad.
