93 engine swap?
#13
My friend put one in his 95 LX; cost a little over $5000 with some small add-ons. He did a lot of the work himself tho I know finding the correct axle combo was a pain. Definently a better suspension is needed; Unless you like wheel hopping through axles. The motor itself is Loud in the car, but you can sure hear v-tec. haha I would say just do a b-swap and be done with it. same power and cheaper all around. But yes it's definatly do-able but for the amount of extra work needed and the difference it might make...i'd just do a b-swap.

Mounts, a lot of work, I know something about the linkage sucks. I dont think the H22 axles will fit the civic. I'll see if i can get a hold of my buddy and ask him, I only ever helped him put the motor together and stuff, I didn't help fabbing anything for the motor install.

For an h22 swap, you'll need swap axles (something like $400) and h22 EG mounts (something like $400 also). I think there's some combination of 1g integra axles that'll work (I know I was reading about it on Honda-Tech), but it'd probably be easier to just go with the swap axles. Also, you'll need to wire for 3 things (vtec and I forget the other two, I think an EGR system is one of them), but it shouldn't be that hard. Other than that, you'll need to do some cutting and splicing for the connectors on the engine/chassis harnesses.
Overall, you'll be spending a good $1000-$1500 on axles, mounts, and high-wear replacement parts (it's usually a good idea to replace things like the water pump, clutch, ignition system, etc when you do a swap).
H22 pros:
-Torque
-200bhp
-tons of torque
-great potential
-160ft/lbs of torque
-2.2l vtec
-did I mention they're torquey?
-H2b kits... can you say h22 with a gsr trans? *drool*
Cons
-the h22 transmission isn't geared the best
-using the h22, most mounts will sit the engine in the bay at a slight angle, putting the axles at an angle, which translates to faster wear
-Huge engine, they take up most of an EG's engine bay
-I've heard a few h22-ers complain about something with shifting at high rpm's. I forget exactly what their complaint was though
And v8diet, h22's use cable shifters, so some people don't like how they feel. Is that what you're thinking of or are you thinking of the high-rpm shifting issues?

Yea I only remember my buddy whining about some crappy shifter issue when he was doing the swap. I don't know if it was running/mounting the shift cables or maybe it did shift like crap. It' seemed fine when I drove it. It may have just been the P.I.T.A cable routing or something.
