Im at a loss with this car.. i bought it recently and all of a sudden the engine startes acting up. I first started noticing the problem driving down the freeway holding steady at 60 mph normally the car is at about 2500 rpm but lately it will drop to 2000 and raise back up to normal and continues unless i press on the gas. I also notice that it does it when the car is in park and nuetral. Any help please im starting to think that it might be something in the fuel system but i will take any advice. Is the CEL ON?

Are you noticing any electrical problems like brightening or dimming of your lights at night?

 

The CEL is a funny thing when i turn the car on its not there but on occasion it will pop up but not every time. I only notice that the lights dim when it stutters and feels like its going to die.

 

Retrieve the CEL code(s) as detailed at the link in my signature.

You might also want to check whether the alternator belt is loose and to have the alternator checked. Also try cleaning the battery terminals and connectors.
