93 civic automatic will not shift out of drive
Hello all,
Im new to Hondas so I figure I might get some answers on this forum. My 93 civic will stay in drive no matter what. You start it and it tries to take off unless you hold the brake down. It shifts good through 1-4 but will not go in neutral or reverse. The shift lock solenoid arm is broken though I have fashioned a way to keep it on the handle. Im out of ideas on this one so any thoughts are much appreciated!

Your shifter assembly must be rather messed up because it's not supposed to be able to start in drive either. Disconnect the cable at the transmission and then see if you can move the handle to all gears. If it will not go, there is a problem with the shifter or cable. I'd suggest replacing both with ones from a junked car. If it does go there could be something jammed inside the transmission.
