This outcome suggests that your hunting idle is caused by a bad or miscalibrated throttle angle sensor. To verify, you would need a multimeter. You could try replacing the sensor; however, the replacement sensor must be calibrated (0.5V closed throttle, 4.5V wide open throttle), which also requires a multimeter.

Code 7 is flashing only because you unplugged the throttle angle sensor with the engine running. Just pull the BACKUP fuse to clear the trouble code from the ECU.

do you mean the HAZARD fuse? how do I use a multimeter on the throttle angle sensor? Autozone said this sensoe is a dealer part. Is that right? with the multimeter how can that tell me if I need a new one?

Yes, I meant the HAZARD fuse.

I'll post how to do the mutimeter tests for the sensor later, but they are basically the voltage measurements at closed throttle and WOT that I already mentioned.

You should be able to purchase a discounted throttle angle sensor online. You should also call a Honda dealer for the part number and their cost.

ok so if I just put a new sensor on, should that take care of the problem? seems it stops the problem when I unplug it.

I think the sensor is probably faulty. Nonetheless, as I mentioned earlier, you can't be sure that replacing the sensor will solve the hunting idle problem unless you do some electrical troubleshooting, which requires a multimeter. In addition, if you decide to just go ahead and replace the sensor, you again will need a multimeter to calibrate the new sensor. Are you able to obtain a multimeter or voltmeter?

I can probably get a meter Monday. I did start the car and after it started the hunting idle, I unplugged it & plugged it back in then drove down the road & back with no hunting idle when I pushed the clutch in. I got home, shut the car off and started it back up & the hunting idle was back.

well, I didnt do the meter thing on the Throttle Angle Sensor. I sprayed the throttle cable with 4in1 oil then let it sit over night. I drove it the next day and had no problem with hunting idle. It does still idle high, but I think we just need to adjust the idle screw. Thanks for ALL the help.

New throttle cable is not very expensive if that's what it needs.

The TPS can be tested in a simpler way than the book says. Under the hood, connect multimeter between the center wire of the TPS and ground (TPS still plugged in). Turn key on but don't start engine. You should have the voltage vary smoothly between 0.5 and 4.5 volts as you move the throttle from idle to wide open.
