im not sure if im throwin any cels, because the harness does not go to that car so if i plug the obd2scanin
it will not read anything. the ecu is notconnected to the obd plug on the driver side so i cant check it
but i sure its in "limp mode", but its been like that since the swap (2years), now outof the blue 5k rev.
its****ty because i cant even get into the power band

that makes it alot tougher, i dont know much about swaps, but can you use a conversion harness that allows the use of the odb plug? Maby someone with experience can chime in.

as for they current problem, does it have normal power up to 5k and then hit a rev limiter? or does it just kinda bog down?

star checking the easy stuff like a clogged fuel filter, check to make sure the timing is is correct, i dk for sure but i belive the crank sensor is down on the oil pump on b- series engines, and in the distributor on d - series, but i may be wrong. you may want to check that. its could also be somthing like a cloged cat, or bad o2 sensor, with out the odb2 codes its pretty hare to diagnose. Do you have any other info, like when it started, ie. driving, or over night, any smoke etc, and what do you fluids look like? i know most of it will be prety inconclusive, but every bit helps

No CEL's? Sounds like you need new plug wires to me. How long has it been since youhada tune up?

While you are at it, change the cap and rotor and plugs too. Set the timing, might as well change the oil. When was the last time you set your valve lash?

yeah the car does have power up to 5k. its one of those things that it kinda eased into,
like sometimes it would go to 7 other times just 5. i dont think its time for a tune up yet the motor
only has around30,000, and the car has new exhaust front to back so the cats good.
thanx for the help!

well since it has power up till then, does it kind of bounce at 5k or does it just dead loose power and stay at 5k?

If it bounces then yeah, it is a rev limiter, most likly caused by the ecu being put into limp home mode. i would say figure out what you need to make the odb2 port function, because then you can find out what is causeing the ecu to go into limp home mode. replacing the ecu will most likly not fix the problem.
