Default 2006 dx 1.8 Coolant leak, not water pump!

New here, hoping I can pick someones brain. Have a 2006 LX, bought it new 200,000 miles, never had a single issue. So all of a sudden it is leaking coolant. I imediately thought cracked block, but when I traced it down, its coming from the back of the engine (up against the fire wall.) Below the intake , (and what appears to be the starter motor) and in front of the transaxle, is a 3 inch long 1/4 inch wide metal strip, with stids or nipples on each side, that is spanning across 2 cast pillars on the block. with nuts coming off the bottom.

So this picture is from the back of the engine, you have to jack the front end up, and lie flat on your back to see it. The transaxle is in the foreground, and thats the starter up above the number plate. The leak appears to be coming from the attachment point of the number plate - on the left side.

I have no idea what this is for, or even what its called, and so far i have not found a schematic that shows the part.

coolant is leaking from the nipple or stud on the left side of the thin sheet of metal.

The coolant starts leaking immediately on starting the car. I suspect i loosen the 2 bolts, that would allow the metal strip with its fittings to be pulled out , and replaced?

Thanks in advance for any information or advise you can offer!
Merry Christmas!

Honda Automotive Parts
The connecting pipe #14?
The mondo-blocko thing #10 looks like it has a lot of places it could leak too.

Yeah, but this is on the back of the engine, has nothing to do with the water pump or the plumbing for it. I added a photo to help you understand what I was talking about!

The sheet metal plate is a serial number tag. Notice the numbers stamped on top of it and its attachment by tamper-resistant breakaway bolt heads. The two 12 mm bolts are holding on a much larger piece which is probably technically a part of the engine block. I know you said the block is not cracked, but it looks like it may be. There was a recall / TSB over "cracked blocks" but I don't know exactly where they would crack.

Default Turned out to be cracked!

Thanks for the help guys, after tracking it down some more, I was convinced it was indeed a cracked block. Took it in to my Honda dealer, they confirmed it was a cracked block, and they would be replacing the engine under warantee free of charge.

So 2006 with 206,000 miles, Honda repainted it 6 months ago - no cost, and now they replace the engine no cost to me.
Pretty remarkable car company if you ask me.

So after they confirmed they would be replacing the engine, I went right down there and bought my wife a new CRV for Christmas.
