2004 civic ex timing belt prep
Hello, I have a 2004 Civic EX that will soon be up for a timing belt replacement. I plan on using all o.e.m. parts for this job, purchased online. I want to do this job RIGHT the first time.
My questions are: 1. Does this job call for a water pump replacement as well? If so does the
Gasket/o-ring come with the pump?
2. What is the book time for this job?
3. Are there any other seals/gaskets that I will need in order to do a
Thorough job?
4. Does this necessitate purchasing a new tensioner as well?
5. Any "snafu's" that i may come into?
Thanks to all who advise. Matt.

I got this kit: Amazon.com: Timing Belt Kit Honda Civic 2001 to 2005 1.7 LX DX EX: Automotive
Had my shop do the job last week. I checked out the parts, all well-known brands. Honda parts for the camshaft and crankshaft and others. P/s and A/c belts were Bando and look nice. Waterpump was Nisin (sp?) I believe.
My shop took the car in at 9am and was ready to be picked up at 2pm that day. And they are crazy fast. The kit referenced above had the water pump and in that box it included the gasket too. Generally at the least with a TB job do the belt and water pump. Tensioner is an option.
I am glad I got the whole kit b/c of the following. The clutch felt like it would slip at low rpm 1500 or so in a high gear, 3rd for example then continue on fine through the rpm range. After the kit was installed this problem was gone. Don't know which part fixed it but I'm glad I had it all done.
