Default 2002 Honda Civic warped head

Hi, I'm new to this forum and need some help. I have a 2002 civic that blew the head gasket a year ago from overheating. The shop said the head was warped and put it though some process where it was heated up and twisted back into shape. ( it was not cheap). They replaced the gasket twice, has been ok for about 20,000 miles, and now is having overheating problems again which have been traced to a slight leak in the head gasket and the warranty is expired. I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks

since the problem started while it was under warranty it should still be covered since it can have originated from the first problem you might check you coolant system as well b/c the reason why iy you head is getting warped is b/c it is over heating b/c probably the coolant system is failing. or ha failed. you might just wanna get it overhauled. you might also go to the dealerships and talk to the head honcho about it. and see what he can do. man

Thanks for the help, I should have explained that the head originally warped b/c the radiator was damaged and all the coolant leaked out, so its not covered by Honda. The shop that did the work had an 18000 mile warranty on their work which is expired. Anyway, the new shop will install a new cylinder head for less than the old shop charged to supposedly straighten out the old head. ($1,800), My guess is that the head was never properly straightened which is why the gasket failed after 20,000 miles.

Holy hell. You paid $1800 to starighten a warped head? I would take that head off and take it back to those guys and beat them to death with it.

You could get a brand new P+P V-tec head for like $500-600.

Actually that was just a guess, but considering you could find just about any D series motor that you want for ~ $600, I definitely would not have paid $1800 to straighten any friggin thing.

600 sounds a little low for d17. but your still right. thats to much to straiten something.

Unfortunately, at the time the work was done I didn't have time to investigate all the options so I trusted that shop since they had done work for me before. Needless to say, that shop has lost my business. I'm just glad the car will be fixed today and consider it a lesson learned.
