ahite well my auto tranny went out, and i had a 5 speed swap done, now when im going down the road the speedo will bounce around and the check engine light stays on and theres some plugs around the manual tranny that theres nothing to plug them into since i did the swap. is there and electrical components that need to be changed since i changed the trannys out, any info on these probs would be greatly appreciated

 

Speed sensor plugged in?

You need to change the ECU too or the CEL will come on because the ECU that came with the car is still expecting an automatic. But that doesn't mess up the speedometer. :Like Nike said, check the speed sensor plug also check for fuse 15 problem which cuts power to the sensor. If the speed needle bounces around but the odometer keeps rolling properly the problem is the speedometer head itself; the same sensor circuit runs the odometer so it would be OK.

 

does anyone know where i can get a ecu at and how much is it gonna run and how would i know which one to buy, the guy said that the tranny came out of the same year model car how would i figure this part out. thanks for all your help, and ill check on the codes
