Default 2-way valve and canister

Happy friday,

Over the past two years I've brought my 2002 Civic to get the check engine light serviced at least 4 times. Everytime they (2 different dealerships) say that it's been the 2-way valve and cansitser which controls emmissions...then they fix it for $325 a pop. When this first happened I was told it didn't happen often, but close to $1500 later I'm begining to wonder what's going on. Has anyone else had an experience like this? How important is this part?

Any insight will be appreciated. Thanks.
