I did a search on Vac Leaks and that sounds like it could be my problem. How often are the CEL readings wrong?

That loud noise can be a exhaust leak. Make sure the exhaust bolts at the head are tight and the bolts before and after the cat. If you have major leak, this can cause inaccurate readings for the oxygen sensor. This probably is causing your idle problem and CEL.

One other thing, you should check for a crack exhaust manifold. Just remove the heat shield and take a peek.

alright. The guy did take the engine apart to change the timing belt so he may have left some holes or something. I'll have that checked.

I just replace my cracked exhaust manifold a few weeks ago. I knew it was cracked for a few years, but this year it was slowly cracking more and caused poor economy, random idle issues, and a constant CEL

2 weeks after replacing the manifold, no CEL, better fuel economy, smoother and quieter idle, and a much happier driver. Def worth checking out

So replacing the iacv fixed the nasty idle. It lightly pulses now when it first cut on but its barely noticeable. The cel is still on tho so im gonna either replace the O2 sensors or make sure they are tight and not causing a leak. It still seems like i here air when I mash the throttle.

Did you reset the ECU after the IACV replacement?

What codes are showing?
