1997 HX head gasket (possibly)

Thanks again everybody. I've cleaned the block and have now replaced the distributor o-ring and the VTEC solenoid spool filter. The amount of oil appearing on the block seems to be a bit less than before, but its still getting pretty wet. The only place I can actually 'see' oil collecting and running down is the top half of the VTEC solenoid. When I went to order all my EGR gaskets/injector o-rings and such today, the counter guy told me to bring that gasket in and he'd find it in the store room. Apparently the breakdowns for those few years didn't show the gasket from the top half of the VTEC solenoid. But, he sounds pretty certain they'll have what I need. As soon as I change that out, I'll update again. the Dist o-ring, and the spool filter were both pretty old and compressed, so they obviously needed the change. I just wish I was done hunting. Thanks again for all the tips. I'll let you know something hopefully by tomorrow nite (tues). I have not cleaned the EGR yet. I did find a hairline crack in the exhaust manifold tho during my time under the hood. Can't wait to get everything done.

ok, here it is. I took the gasket from the top half of the VTEC solenoid in to the parts guy today and he found just the one I needed. It wasn't on the prints. I changed it out tonite, and voila ! I let her run for 20 minutes or so, and not a drop....definitely not the river that had been previously running down the front of the block. Whew ! So, I can drive her for the rest of the week and then get onto the EGR on the weekend. Those gaskets came in today also. And now to add to my chores, I am sitting there while the engine was running, and notice the AC compressor start kicking on and off over and over and over again in a very short period of time...ie: 10 times in 30 secs. Then it stays off for a while and then does the same thing again a minute later. I've been noticing that it doesn't seem to be getting cold lately, so I guess it must be low on freon. Guess I've got another leak to find. Hopefully it'll be something easy. the last time Honda told me my AC (a 92 accord) needed $800 in parts, I took apart the unit under the dash and found a leak around the expansion valve, replaced the orings, and the AC hasn't needed to be charged in almost 3 years since. Again, I hope its a simple leak around an oring. I will post again when I'm done with the EGR. didn't somebody have a description of how to clean the idle unit on this forum also ? Maybe its just the AC, but the engine really seems to be idling low when it does kick in...lower than what I'd expect...say around 500 or so...like its about to die out.
