1997 Honda Civic EX problem, possibly o2 sensor bad?
So about a week ago at a stop light my car all of sudden started to bog while accelerating in every gear. It seems to only do it after the engine has warmed up and it also doesn't do it as much while driving at night. It's a 1997 Honda Civic EX M/t. I have been reading on the forums and seeing if anyone knows what could be wrong and I've been reading that it could possibly be a bad o2 sensor.
Does anybody now if this is a bad o2 sensor problem or if not, what it could possibly be because it is really annoying?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure if you had a bad O2 sensor the check engine light (CEL) would have lit.
Not really sure if it would cause this kind of problem but I think it could... how's your air filter? When's the last time it was replaced?

As Trust mentions, is the CEL ON?
I would recommend that you start by doing a basic tune up of the ignition system (i.e., replace the spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor).
Some other things to try would be to check/adjust the ignition timing, to replace the fuel filter, and to do a Seafoam treatment (see forum DIY section).

I think the CEL is broken on my car. I'm not positive but I believe the guy I bought it from told me that. I just replazed the fuel and air filters the other day along with a full oil and fluid change.
I will probably do the basic tune up as you mentioned because I have been reading that I should be doing that anyways. I will also check/adjust the ignition timing. As far as the Sea Foam treatment, I'm pretty sure they did something like this when I got my oil changed because it was blowing a ton of smoke out and he said before I left that the carbon build up should be cleaned now.
Thanks for the replies and any other help is welcome. I'm having a friend who is a master mechanic look at it today so hopefully he can help too.

Every time you turn the key on but don't start the engine, the CEL should light up. If it doesn't do that, it is broken.
It's fairly common for used car sellers to remove the bulb or cut the wire to conceal that there's a problem with the engine.
You can still hook up a code scanner and read trouble codes from the ECU even if the light doesn't work.

EDIT: Well I just checked and it turned on when the car wasn't on yet so it must not be broken. I don't get a CEL when the car is on though.
