1997 Honda Civic DX Pilot Bearing

1997 Honda Civic DX Pilot Bearing
I recently replaced the clutch for the above vehicle and now that it is all back together there is a whine coming from the transmission. I replaced the clutch disk, pressure plate, and throw out bearing as provided in the kit I got from O'reilly. I also had the flywheel resurfaced and changed the fluid using factory manual transmission fluid. What I'm wondering is weather or not this vehicle has a pilot bearing or not. There was one provided in the kit but there was not one in the crank when I pulled the tranny.
The whine goes away when I push in the clutch but when I take it out of gear and let the vehicle idle you can hear it. Could be this is a pre-existing condition as the vehicle does not belong to me and I've never driven it before. From what I've read it sounds like the whine is likely an inputshaft bearing but I'm wondering if the last person who replaced the clutch forgot to put the pilot bearing in it and that's what caused the inputshaft bearing to go out.
Any thoughts would be appreciated; I just want to make sure I did everything right.

When the clutch pedal is up, the clutch parts are locked together, so the pilot bearing (if you have one) does not turn. I thought all starting in 1988 had pilot bearings though the early CVCC models did not. Probably someone left the bearing out. I think you have to take the flywheel off and install it from the back.
So the noise is from inside the transmission. The input bearings are a weak point of the D-series manuals and they will almost all go out eventually. Transmission can be taken apart to replace the bearings without a full rebuild.
