i changed the spark plugs, distributor, oil and oil filter change. my car is running rich, lots of black smoke coming out of the exhaust, makes you wanna pass out when your in the car. starts right up. the fuel gauge is also off. shows more than you actually have. when i go around turns i'll have half a tank than immediately goes to empty. After the corner my gas starts to go up, unless it dies because the gas is so low.

 

Is the CEL on? Does the CEL work? Try to pull codes with an OBDII scanner regardless. Remove spark plugs and see if one is different color than the others. If only one is black the fuel injector for that cylinder could be stuck open. If they are all black consider excessive fuel pressure or a sensor problem.

 

Yes all the spark plugs get black very fast. No the CEL is not on. do you know if autozone would have the obdii scanner?

 

Yes they do. Does your CEL come on for the bulb test when you turn the key on but don't start?

 

no just the oil and battery do light come on. i was thinking maybe the oxygen sensor?

 

Someone has removed the bulb or otherwise disabled your CEL then. There's almost certainly a code set.

Oxygen sensor won't cause clouds of black smoke. I'm thinking fuel pressure, MAP sensor, etc.
