1997 Civic Stalls while Drive, then starts when i turn the key at 50mph!
While im driving ( doing 60mph usually) my civic stalls. The speedometer dips as does the temp gauge and the lights around the shift indicator dim and the radio blares static. If i turn the key as if i were starting the car, power comes back. Some times i have to hold the key in the start position for as much as a minute before it starts back up.
I've noticed that the problem happens more when it is hot and sunny out (the temp in the cab is very hot down here in florida).
I've replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, main relay and upper O2 sensor.
While the car runs smoother after these fixes it has not fixed the stalling problem.
I was thinking it could be the ignition switch???
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Russ

If you have the switch ON and the dash doesn't light up (particularly the oil and battery lights should be on when the switch is on and engine not running), there's a break in the circuit somewhere. Considering the rest of the car still has power from the battery, etc. it seems likely to be the switch itself. Could also be a broken wire or loose fuse under the dash but generally that's not going to resolve itself just by turning the key again.
