1997 civic ex has no spark
Hello, new to the forum, I have a 97 civic ex that died on the way home from work. Had it towed home and started t-shooting. I have no spark. I am using a haynes manual to t-shoot. I have power to the coil and the ICM . All resistance readings are within tolerance on the distributor. I changed the ICM but that did not help. Also put on a new cap and rotor. Any input would be appretiated.

Does your Honda has crankshaft position sensor? The sensor may have moved too far from the trigger and the system doesn't know if the motor is turning,,,,,,,. I am not all that much familiar with automobile ignition system and my '90 Civic has not given me any problem in this area. I'm just guessing ,,,,,,,,,,,.

good news. the car is fixed and it was the coil. I could not believe it. A lesson to anyone who has the same problem and reads this thread. Even if the resistance values are within tolerance, the coil can still be bad. That is exactly what I had, a coil that metered good, but was bad. Thanks to all for your input and help.

Hi,
If you had the coil checked out ok in the begining of troubleshooting, you must have gone thrugh every other components. How did you find out that the coil is bad in the end? Did you gamble? And bought new unit?
Please don't think that I'm nosy for asking.
